As the bite of the coronavirus sinks deeper, some top hotel chains in the country have begun tying up with online delivery platforms to reach housebound patrons, while others are opening up their laundry services to outsiders to generate revenue.
Hotel chains including Accor, Hilton and Conrad, and Sheraton have been delivering food from their in-house restaurants through Swiggy and Zomato in a bid to create an alternative stream of revenue.
“We are getting close to 100 orders per day collectively for our properties, and we see this number further going up with the extension in lockdown,” said Vineet Verma, executive director at Brigade Hospitality.
Brigade has seven operating hotels and five lifestyle clubs that are delivering food to customers residing close by through online and offline delivery models. Meanwhile, Novotel Chennai OMR and Sheraton Grand Bangalore, Whitefield, have started laundry services for their customer too.
“Business continuity in any form is a refreshing change at this time. Moreover, there are many variables which will decide the reviving plan of a whole industry,” said Zaid Sadiq, executive director, hospitality, Prestige Group.
