Are you serious about becoming a confident, competent virtual bookkeeping professional? If the answer is yes, then you need to be willing to invest the time and money necessary to raise your skill level. Where can you get virtual bookkeeping training? Well, that’s what I want to discuss in this blog post. I recently put together a video on some virtual bookkeeping training options, and share what each option offers. The option that is right for you will depend on many factors. You can watch the video below or read on for a quick rundown.

Some Virtual Bookkeeping Training Options
Option 1: Accounting Coach
Accounting Coach has been around for many years. There’s a ton of free training as well as $49 and $99 one-time paid options.
What’s covered? You’ll learn all the foundational things you need to know to start building your bookkeeping or accounting skill set.
What’s not covered? It doesn’t cover technology, QuickBooks, workflows or other things you use on a daily basis as a bookkeeper. And of course, it also doesn’t cover the marketing and sales, pricing, or business side of being a bookkeeper.
Option 2: Bookkeeper Launch
Bookkeeper Launch (previously known as Bookkeeper Business Launch) is a program designed for people who have never done bookkeeping but would like to start a virtual bookkeeping business.
What’s covered? It covers all the bookkeeping basics, plus QuickBooks and the business and marketing side of becoming a virtual bookkeeper.
They offer a $2000 program and a higher-priced premium version that includes coaching. To give it a test drive, click HERE to take 3 free classes and see whether it makes sense for you to invest in Bookkeeper Launch.
Option 3: Universal Accounting Center
Universal Accounting Center has a slightly different focus. It’s designed for people who have some level of accounting and bookkeeping training or background and want to hone their skills to deliver specific types of services like virtual bookkeeping.
They offer a professional bookkeeper program which starts at about $2500, including access to a coach. So, you get all of the bookkeeper training, QuickBooks training, along with training on running your own business, and you also get access to a coach who’s there to help you along the way.
Option 4: QuickBooks Online
QuickBooks Online offers free QuickBooks Online training as well as free certification through the QuickBooks Online Accountant program.
QuickBooks training is essential if you plan to use the software. And, of course, it’s free – so there’s no risk. The only caveat is that this training teaches you to use the tool but doesn’t teach the underlying accounting and bookkeeping principles. You’ll need to learn those elsewhere if you don’t know them already.
Option 5: The Virtual Bookkeeper’s Roadmap
And lastly, we have The Virtual Bookkeeper’s Roadmap. This is actually my own course in my online academy (5MB Academy) and it’s really, I think, the missing piece to all these programs. It’s focused on the workflows, tools, and apps that you need to build a successful virtual bookkeeping business. So, you’ll get the benefit of my experience without the trial and error or $100,000 investment in finding the best possible way to run a virtual bookkeeping business that I experienced.
You can watch my walk through of the course HERE and see what it’s like on the inside.
In this self-paced online course, you’ll learn:
- Virtual bookkeeping business basics – how to build a solid foundation for your business.
- Your tech stack – how to evaluate and identify the essential apps you need for your virtual bookkeeping business.
- How to get paid upfront for all of your services.
- Client onboarding workflows and best practices.
- Delivering virtual bookkeeping services – managing clients, work status and due dates, the monthly bookkeeping review workflow, document management, team collaboration, proven strategies for maximizing your productivity, and so much more.
It includes all the video lessons, downloadable PDF materials, forms, checklists, everything you need to systematize your own business and to work efficiently.
These programs aren’t cheap, as I said in beginning of this blog, you need to be willing to invest the time and money necessary to raise your skill level. To make it just a little easier for you, if you click on the following link for my course: The Virtual Bookkeeper’s Roadmap, you can use the code TENOFF to get 10% off the course.
