Union minister Nitin Gadkari has urged ecommerce giant Amazon to handhold small Indian businesses on its platform and guide them on marketing and global consumer preferences.
“I need your cooperation. Particularly the rural, agricultural, tribal areas, 115 aspirational districts – we need to take them into the mainstream of our economy,” Gadkari, minister for MSMEs, said at launch of ‘Amazon India Exports Digest 2020’ on Monday.
The move will not only help promote small businesses in the country but could also boost Amazon’s India turnover.
“Only I will request you, (to see) if it is possible to find a solution for small industries– micro and small and medium. With your international exposure, if you can plan product designing, giving new vision to all entrepreneurs, choices of global consumers, what they prefer,” Gakdari said. “It will be a huge win-win situation for both.”
Addressing the Amazon India leadership, Gadkari said the government has prioritised upgradation of technology for small businesses.
“Your role is very important because your exposure in the global economy is very high. With that vision, if you can create awareness, and make efforts for product development, designing, it is going to increase your turnover and help Indian MSMEs at the same time,” Gadkari said.
