Abilene-based accounting firm Ray & Company, P.C. will become a part of Condley and Company L.L.P., also based in Abilene, effective Nov. 1, according to a Tuesday news release from Condley and Company.
“Our merger with Condley and Company provides us with many new resources,” said Ray & Company president Hobby Stevens in the release. “This will allow us to continue to serve our clients in the personal, professional manner that we have provided for almost 50 years.”
Ray & Company, which was founded by Glenn Ray in 1971, is a full-service tax and accounting firm. The current Ray & Company location at 402 Cyprees St. will close, with staff transitioning to the Condley and Company office at 993 N. Third St.
Condley and Company, founded in 1939, provides a range of accounting and consulting services, and has a staff of more than 60 employees, with 11 full-time partners.
First Financial Bankshares named one of best in the nation
Bank Director Magazine recently named First Financial Bankshares, the Abilene-based financial holding company the operates First Financial Bank, the third highest-performing publicly traded bank in the nation, in the category of banks with between $5 billion and $50 billion in assets.
The annual rankings measure all publicly traded banks based on profitability, capital adequacy and asset quality.
“This accomplishment is due to the direction of our Board, the support of our shareholders, the dedication of our employees and the loyalty of our customers who have kept us Texas Strong for more than 130 years,” said First Financial Bankshares chairman, president and CEO F. Scott Dueser in a news release. “Even in unprecedented times, we remain steadfast in our commitment to meet the challenges of today while continuing to grow and provide excellence in customer service.”
First Financial Bankshares has placed between first and seventh on the list each year for the last 12 years.
American Red Cross names area executive director
The American Red Cross recently announced that it has hired Robyn Flores as executive director for the organization’s Big Country chapter. Flores will be based in Abilene, and will oversee programs and services in 38 counties in an area that also includes Wichita Falls and San Angelo.
Flores previously served as the community impact and development director for the United Way of Concho Valley. She holds a bachelor’s degree in public relations, advertising and applied communication from Hardin-Simmons University.
Hendrick Health System recognized by ‘Best Places to Work’
Hendrick Health System was recently named one of the “2020 Best Places to Work in Healthcare” by the healthcare industry publication Modern Healthcare.
The “Best Places to Work” awards recognizes companies for improving work environment, employee satisfaction and employee retention, based on confidential employee surveys.
Hendrick was one of 22 Texas healthcare facilities to be included on this year’s list, and will be honored at a virtual awards gala in October.
Abilene Police Department recognizes patrol officer
The Abilene Police Department and Patrol Division Command staff has named Officer Douglas (D.J.) Vahlenkamp as the most recent Patrol Officer of the Quarter, the Assistant Chief Doug Wrenn announced in a news release Monday.
“Despite being a skilled officer who is well beyond proficient in many areas, (Vahlenkamp) remains humble,” Wrenn said in the release. “This characteristic is perhaps the most important trait an officer could possess in today’s climate.”
According to the release, Vahlenkamp recently completed an Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training instructor course, and has since conducted breakout ALERRT courses with all officers on “D” and “F” Companies.
