SIPP provider Curtis Banks is backing this year’s Pension Awareness Live 2021 campaign.
The week-long campaign, which has been marked each year since 2014, supports Pension Awareness Day which is on 15 September this year.
Curtis Banks says that the campaign encourages better financial education and awareness and helps people feel more confident about their pension savings and financial services.
The provider says recent studies suggest a huge amount of pension ignorance. Last month Aviva found that 42% of people did not know the value of their pensions and 40% did not know how much to save to fund the lifestyle they aspire to in retirement. The same study also found that 60% of respondents did not know how much income their pensions could provide.

Pension Awareness Live aims to promote greater understanding of pensions among consumers about pensions and where to get advice.
This year’s campaign focuses on pension basics, ethical investing, and financial wellbeing. There will be a variety of activities on offer throughout the week, including webinars, live Q&As, blogs, and videos.
Curtis Banks pension technical manager Jessica List said: “Pensions can be very complex and impenetrable which can put people off learning about them. Every year Pension Awareness Live helps simplify and break down the complexity to help thousands of people engage with, and understand, pensions and retirement saving issues. It is an excellent campaign and one we are very proud to support.”
Tim Brienza, Chartered Financial Planner at Brunel Wealth, said: “Individuals who don’t engage with their finances at all are unlikely to seek advice, which is why campaigns like Pension Awareness Live are so important not only for individuals, but also for the financial services industry. It’s great to see this year’s campaign address wider issues such as ethical investing, which is becoming a huge area of interest among clients.”
