Small fashion and lifestyle portals are organising lockdown sale events to beat the liquidity crunch during which shoppers can place orders even now but will receive deliveries after lockdown is lifted.
Online firms such as Tjori, Voylla, Peachmode among others have announced discounts of up to 80% during the lockdown to prevent an inventory pile up due to suspension of ecommerce deliveries of nonessential items.
“People are sitting at home and have more time to engage with the brand and look through our products. We do not want to close our doors on them,” said Vishwas Shringi, founder of Voylla, which sells jewellery and other fashion accessories.
While larger online fashion retailers are not taking orders for non-essential items, smaller players have been agile in order to stay afloat.
“We built our lineup for the season and had already made purchases and had to pay our weavers and craftsmen,” said Mansi Gupta, founder, Tjori that sells home decor, apparels and other lifestyle products.
The firm has also launched several products like disinfectants, sanitisers.
Tjori gave heavy discounts on its products during the ‘Lockdown Sale’ and has achieved 70% of its normal sales during the sale event.
“These sale events help us in overcoming the liquidity crunch caused by the lockdown.
We are giving 25% more discount on selling price without looking at our margins,” said Anupam Tulsyan, cofounder, Peachmode, which is taking only prepaid orders for ‘Corona Clearance Sale’.
