The Edinburgh-based private bank Adam & Company has appointed former Barclays Wealth Planning director Andy Hall as its new Financial Planning director.
Adam & Company, a Corporate Chartered Financial Planner, said the appointment marked the increased importance of Financial Planning to the bank.
Mr Hall joins Adam & Company from Barclays Wealth Management where he was director of Wealth Planning for Scotland and Northern Ireland.
At Barclays Wealth he spearheaded the division’s growth strategy, oversaw Financial Planning of invested assets and developed client retention strategies.
At Adam & Company he will look after the design, development and delivery of specialist Financial Planning advice.
He will work with clients and colleagues across Scotland and will mainly be based at Adam & Company’s Glasgow office.
Mr Hall has nearly 20 years in the industry and experience of estate planning, retirement and pensions advice and investments. He is also familiar with business succession planning and company sales.

• Also this week, Tilney has hired former professional footballer Simon Andrews to head growth plans for its sport clients base. He was a former professional footballer who played for Manchester United and Wigan Athletic between 1985 and 1991 before moving into financial services as an adviser and later a business acquisition executive at St James’s Place. He will be based in the North West.
