If your staff are paid the minimum wage you will need to recalculate their pay with effect from 1st October 2015 to take account of the increases which came into force on that date.
Those aged 21 and above must be paid a minimum of £6.70 per hour.
Those aged 18-20 must be paid a minimum of £5.30 per hour.
Those aged 16-17 must be paid £3.87 per hour.
Apprentices aged between 16 and 18 or 19 and over and in their first year of apprenticeship must be paid £3.30 per hour. An apprentice must be completing a recognised apprenticeship.
Expenses are not classed as earnings when calculating the National Minimum Wage.
From 6th April 2016 the Living Wage rate of £7.20 per hour will take effect for employees aged 25 and over.
