Rebecca Kowalski, a PFS Fellow and former Paraplanning manager, has launched a sustainable investment consultancy for IFAs on the eve of the COP 26 environmental summit in Glasgow.
The Glasgow-based ESG expert says her consultancy will offer advice and help to IFA firms looking for bolster their ESG offering.
Her firm, Overstory Finance, is an independent consultancy business that aims to help advisers and their clients engage with sustainable investment.
She previously worked as compliance manager and sustainable investment advocate at Cornerstone Asset Management but says she wanted to reach a wider audience and decided to branch out on her own.
She said she was inspired by the words of UN High Level Climate Champion, Nigel Topping, who said: “The Race to Net Zero is not a competitive one, it’s one we all win or we all lose.”

She said: “To make the biggest possible difference to the financial services industry, to client experience and to the world we all share sustainable investment should be feel-good finance and is the finance we all need in a finite world.”
She said she was also influenced by her daughter, an environmental scientist and climate activist.
She believes that those who choose to invest sustainably are typically more interested, more engaged and more likely to recommend their adviser to others.
Overstory believes “green” investments are not just for “eco-warriors” and the transition to the low carbon economy is a matter of when, not if.
The business will be launching an interactive IFA and client-facing website later this year, with tools, tips and educational materials.
